German Cockroach

German Cockroaches…

These are the worst of all. We provide a gel bait treatment which is a highly effective method of controlling infestations in sensitive areas such as kitchens, restaurants etc. The product is a crack and crevice treatment which needs no exclusion time and can be applied during work hours if necessary. Great results within 7-10 days, but with heavy infestations sometimes it pays to do a follow up treatment to ensure total eradication.

The first essential to controlling cockroaches is good hygiene practice and scrupulous cleanliness. Search for hiding places by looking for stains, marks and droppings.

On electrical equipment such as electrical motors microwaves or refrigerators use a dust.

The German cockroach (blattella germanica) is the species that gives all cockroaches a bad name! It’s found throughout the world and commonly infests dwellings for their availability of food, water and harbourage.

The German cockroach will adulterate food with its faeces and physically transport pathogenic organisms which may cause severe allergic reactions. The German cockroach has three life stages typical of insects, egg, nymph and adult. The entire life cycle is completed in around 100 days and they breed continuously so overlapping generations will be present at any one time and under ideal conditions can grow exponentially. All life stages actively forage for food.

They are omnivorous and will feed on food scrapes, pet food, book bindings, grease and also being carnivorous, themselves.

The adult is 10-15mm long, light brown or amber in colour with two dark bands running the length of the body and wings covering most of the body.

Eggs are carried in an egg case (oothecea) by the female and contain 30 to 40 eggs. This can be seen protruding from the female just before hatching and nymphs can hatch from the egg case at this time.
