FLIES
The fly is one of the most widely distributed and familiar insects associated with man, and can be a great threat to human health. The house fly breeds continuously throughout the year in warm parts of the country. Eggs are laid in batches of about 100, and a single fly may lay many batches over a period of up to 3 months. During warm weather eggs hatch in about a day.

House flies can travel great distances in open country (up to 32 kilometers). Under normal circumstances they are active only during the hour of daylight and are seldom disturbed by artificial light.

When the weather starts to heat up we enter the time of year when conditions are ideal for fly populations to explode.

SANDFLIES

Known as Black flies are common near water. they are a great nuisance to humans and other warm blooded animals because of their biting habit.

No control is recognised but humans can avoid being bitten by using an effective insect repellent.

CRANE FLIES

The adults are usually found outside at nights and are attracted by lights. they are very fragile and easily loss their long legs if handled. They are often called Daddy-long-legs (but with wings)
